There is a lot of entertainment out there these days, and a lot of fantasy, sci-fi, and horror titles to parse through. So we’re rounding up the genre television coming out each month.
This month is full of new seasons of a wide range of favorite shows. Are you in the mood for vampires in toxic relationships? Epic fantasy battles with dragons? Superhero shenanigans? Or elemental bending? Take your pick from the shows coming out this month.
The Legend of Vox Machina — Prime Video (June 3)
(Season 4) Season 3 of the animated Dungeons & Dragons web series adaptation ended with the misfit crew of heroes parting ways… but what huge threat could bring them back together? Death cultists? Supernatural villains? All of the above? Once again, the world is in danger—and once again these unlikely heroes must save it.
The Vampire Lestat — AMC/AMC+ (June 7)
AMC’s version of Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles took many creative liberties, like changing the races, time period of origin, and ages of many characters—and that’s been a very good thing. While the first two seasons adapted Interview With the Vampire, the third season takes on the second book in the series: The Vampire Lestat. It tells Lestat’s side of things—all while he climbs the ladder of fame as a rock musician. As this messy diva deserves!
My Adventures With Superman — Adult Swim (June 13)
(Season 3) The animated adventures of Clark Kent, Lois Lane, and Jimmy Olsen continue in the newest season of My Adventures With Superman. The third season will adapt 1993 comic arc Reign of the Supermen, which introduces one of the Man of Steel’s most iconic villains: Cyborg Superman. The new season will also introduce Jessica Cruz, a Green Lantern who is set to have her own spinoff show.
House of the Dragon — HBO (June 21)
(Season 3) All the build up from the past two seasons will finally come to a head. The fall of House Tagaryen is nigh! Also, there will be dragons! House of the Dragon takes place 200 years before the main events of Game of Thrones and adapts George R.R. Martin’s Fire and Blood. Fire and Blood is written in the style of a history book, so the show fills in some of those narrative gaps.
Avatar: The Last Airbender — Netflix (June 25)
(Season 2) Netflix’s live action take on the iconic animated series returns. Like the original Avatar: The Last Airbender, this next season sees the gaang (that’s Aang and gang) venture deeper into the Earth Kingdom. There, they’ll meet fan favorite character Toph, a blind Earthbender who loves underground fighting rings. But Aang and his pals aren’t alone. Exiled Fire Prince Zuko and his Uncle Iroh are hiding out close by.
